Following the events of 9/11, Captain America must confront the altered state of America and the broader world. Nick Fury urges him to depart for Afghanistan, but Cap resists, feeling his presence is more necessary at home. Roaming New York, he senses a seismic shift in the world. A young Arab American, assaulted on the streets at night, is rescued by Cap, who also enlightens the assailants about resilience. In a place named Centerville, mysterious weapons rain from the sky. Captain America arrives to find an empty town and knows he must rescue its citizens.
